In a year that saw worldwide Ethernet Services delivery surpass all legacy services combined, the MEF Americas Carrier Ethernet Summit reveals the innovation behind this remarkable industry tipping point.
It has been 11 months since Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) opened a new chapter in the story of Ethernet Services. Enabling new markets for regional providers, delivery of cloud services, the first application-oriented SLAs and optimization of mobile backhaul are all made possible by the MEF’s CE 2.0 innovative specifications.
Featuring a keynote by Ethernet Inventor, Bob Metcalfe, our Americas Carrier Ethernet Summit focuses on innovation, showcasing how operators, cloud-providers and equipment manufacturers alike are leveraging CE 2.0 to their business advantage.
The MEF Americas Summit marks an important CE 2.0 milestone in its own right: we will also be hosting a special ceremony to recognize the first group companies that have achieved Certification as “MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 compliant” – a suite that totals 690 stringent test cases. MEF CE 2.0 Certification creates an important standard of deployment for the marketplace. Over 160 companies are now certified for CE 1.0 and the adoption signs for 2.0 are exciting.
The Summit will be held in conjunction with the MEF Quarterly Members Meeting (January 28 – 31, 2013) in San Diego, California and follows the MEF’s first-ever Carrier Ethernet Summit held in Shanghai in October 2012 (click here), where the theme was the globalization of Ethernet Services, with leading operators reporting on their successes and plans for expansion of functionality and footprint.
