Designed for service providers, the MEF services certification program validates the compliance of Carrier
Ethernet services to MEF specifications through an independent, streamlined testing process. MEF 9 and MEF
14 certifications, the mainstays of the program, verify the conformance and performance of the three most
widely deployed services in the Carrier Ethernet market place: |
- Ethernet Private Line (EPL): Dedicated service that interconnects two remote sites
- Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL): Multiplexed service that interconnects a hub to multiple remote sites
- Ethernet LAN (ELAN): Meshed service that interconnects multiple remote sites
The tests cover the full set of Carrier Ethernet service attributes defined in the core MEF technical specifications MEF 10 Ethernet Services Attributes Phase 1 and MEF 6 Metro Ethernet Services Definitions
Phase 1.

Tests are conducted by Iometrix, the official MEF certification lab, on live services provisioned
across the service provider’s production network.
