Insuring Conformance to Global
Carrier Ethernet Specifications

Get the document Designed for equipment vendors, the MEF equipment certification programensures that products and solutions conform to MEF global Carrier Ethernet specifications through an independent, streamlined testing process. It allows service providers to confidently select standardized solutions and accelerate the deployment of new systems and services. Tests are conducted by Iometrix, the official MEF certification lab.

The program’s four principal equipment certifications MEF 9, 14, 18 and 21 cover Carrier Ethernet E-Line and ELAN services delivery and performance, Circuit Emulation Services over Ethernet for mobile backhaul applications and Link OAM based on clause 57 of IEEE 802.3 for the MEF UNI Type 2 that enables service providers to automate the management of customer links and services.

MEF 21 is the first certification in a series covering all major functionalities of the UNI Type 2.
The next planned certifications in the series are MEF 24 (E-LMI), MEF 25 (Service OAM) and MEF 27
(Enhanced UNI Attributes & L2CP Handling).
