Telecom Italia is Europe’s First CE 2.0 Company
April 16 2013: The MEF today announces that Telecom Italia has become the first European Service Provide to achieve CE 2.0 certification
“The MEF views the Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certification program as a very important chapter in the evolution of standardised Carrier Ethernet services. I believe it will open up new services and markets for Telecom Italia,” said Nan Chen, President of the MEF, at the organization’s Quarterly Meeting in Frankfurt as he congratulated Mario Bianchetti, Senior Program Manager and Daniele Accetta, Primary Technical Contact.

Alaska gets Carrier Ethernet 2.0
Alaska Communications’ CE 2.0 certified services will benefit business, government and consumer markets
March 19th 2013, Los Angeles: The arrival of Carrier Ethernet (CE 2.0) services, announced today, brings Alaska in step with the best-connected business communities in America, according to Nan Chen, MEF President. He congratulated Alaska Communications for being Alaska’s first provider to achieve the new CE 2.0 certification for both their carrier grade E-Line and E-LAN Ethernet services, now extensively available across the state.

Australian SP brings Carrier Ethernet 2.0 to the APAC region
CE 2.0 certified services ensure world-class connectivity with multiple CoS and end-to-end manageability
March 7 2013. Telstra Wholesale is now the first company in the APAC region – and only the second company in the world – to offer certified Carrier Ethernet (CE 2.0) services, according to Nan Chen, President of the MEF. He congratulated Telstra Wholesale for being the APAC region’s – and so also Australia’s – very first provider to achieve the new CE 2.0 certification for both their Ethernet Access and Ethernet Backhaul E-Line products. Telstra is backing its CE 2.0 services with a major internal educational campaign that has already resulted in eighteen employees across the Telstra Group receiving MEF Carrier Ethernet Certified Professional (CECP) accreditation – with more to come.

February 20th, 2013 Phuket,Thailand: The MEF today announced that there are now 571 MEF Carrier Ethernet Certified Professionals (MEF-CECPs) in 142 employer organizations in 40 countries around the globe. Carrier Ethernet in the Rural Markets video discusses the applicability of Carrier Ethernet to rural markets, using both existing copper and/or new fiber infrastructure. This allows carriers to provide services to rural areas that are comparable to what can be found in urban area. A big month for new MEF Content |
|
A substantial amount of new content has been added to the MEF web site. Two new topics are addressed. A Mobile Backhaul reference presentation (37 slides) covers marketing and technical issues and previews the MEF Mobile Backhaul Implementation Agreement. This is accompanied by a new White Paper: Carrier Ethernet Access for Mobile Backhaul Networks and by a new version of the MEF Certification Program presentation, updated with information on MEF 18 which supports the mobile backhaul initiative. See also the new Mobile Backhaul web page launched this month.
A new 50 slide presentation on Carrier Ethernet for Business has also been added which examines the markets, application and user benefits and is geared to the Enterprise and business end user visitors to the site.
In addition, several other reference presentations have new content and presentations from four conferences have been added including first time materials on GPON, latest on E-NNI and an up-to-date Standards review. These can all be checked out on the MEF Presentations page.

In support of the Mobile Backhaul initiatives listed above and below, MEF Member, EANTC in collaboration with and sponsored by 15 MEF member companies created the 2008 Mobile Backhaul Interoperability Showcase as the first practical example of this initiative. The event is co-located in Berlin and on-site at the MPLS and Ethernet World Congress, Paris, 2/08, the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, 2/08, and CTIA Wireless, Las Vegas, 4/08. Carrier Ethernet World Congress (Sept 24th - Sept 28th)
The MEF's principal European began on Monday 24th September at the Intercontinental Hotel in Geneva, Switzerland with a well-attended full day MEF Workshop.
Other MEF contributions were presented later in the week. The Event also featured the MEF's Carrier Ethernet European Service Provider of the Year awards presented on Tuesday Sept, 25th.
